Decorating Tips: Why our Model Homes are So Cozy
Opening the door, you're immediately impressed by what you see. The room feels cozy, but not cluttered; open, but not empty or cavernous; decorated, but not fussy. You've stepped into the 'Coronado' at Sierra Woods West (the model home hosting our Farmersville sales office).
Our decorators often make choices based on instinct, and sometimes based on magazine ads, but they always follow some simple rules:
-
Start with a theme (or select an object to build your theme around)
-
Try not to include more than 3 objects in a display grouping
-
Consider your lighting (does the room have many windows, or only artificial light), and plan for daylight and evening moods.
-
Create furniture groupings that will encourage mingling in different areas of a large room.
-
Create a focal point (ie. a display grouping, painting, or even a mirror).
-
When using bold colors, don't paint more than 3 of the walls. Leave at least one wall an easy neutral color to prevent a feeling of confinement.
-
Decide what roll you want the window coverings to play in the room. Don't just pick curtains because they're pretty. Consider how much light they will let in, and what color they will tint the room when they're closed.
...And it's that simple! Hopefully these 7 tips will be useful to you in your new Visalia home.
